If you are in good health and like to be in the water you can become a scuba diver. The PADI Open Water Diver course is known around the world and over 400 000 new divers are certified by PADI instructors each year.

The course consists of 3 parts:

The theoretical formation is divided in 5 chapters. You will read a book and can watch a video. Further an instructor will repeat the most important content and answer your questions.

In the protected environment of a pool you will learn all the necessary skills in small groups and close supervision.

An exam at the end of your lessons ensures that you understood the content and are ready for the certification

Theory and exam can also be completed as an online course called eLearning. Do not forget to do your certification dives within 1 year of your pool training or you’ll need to start all over again.

Total course time: 24 hours

The certification dives are the final step towards becoming a certified scuba diver. During 4 dives in an open water environment you will repeat some of the skills you have practiced in the pool and learn to dive in a buddy team. Each dive has a specific set of exercises, will train your buoyancy skills and increase your comfort level. After completing all skills and the 4 dives you will receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification card as well as your FQAS certificate, a card required by the government to dive in Quebec.

You can do your 4 certification dives during a trip with Plongée Capitale or in any of the thousands of PADI dive centers around the world. After completing theory, pool and exam we can provide the required paperwork accrediting your training. Remember, this training record is only valid within a year of your pool sessions.

No. Diving is a buddy sport. A PADI Open Water Diver certification allows you to dive with another certified buddy but without professional supervision of an instructor or divemaster to the depth of 18m/60ft.

For hygienic reasons and best comfort we recommend that you have your own mask, fins and snorkel.

We strongly recommend to reserver your preferred date in advance. A depot of 50% is required for inscription. Once you are inscribed you will receive the book. It is important to be well prepared and complete the homework in your book prior to starting the course as well as have all the required paperwork filled out.
