Welcome to your PADI Open Water Course!

Welcome to your PADI Open Water Course!

This is the first step towards becoming a passionate diver and member of the worldwide recognised PADI family. With your Open Water Diver certification card you can dive to a maximum depth of 60feet/18m (40feet/12m for Junior Open Water Diver) and it has no expiration date.

To perfectly adapt to your busy schedule we offer this course in 3 practical modules that you can complete at your convenience: theory – pool practice – certification.

THEORY – Gain knowledge!

We offer 2 models:

eLearning: you’ll go over all the theory via an interactive online course – an animated book so to say, that will record your progress and let you do the final exam in the comfort of your home. Study whenever you like and how long you like at a time. The online program must be completed before you start practical training. Just before the first pool session the instructor will do a quick evaluation of your knowledge. Be assured that our staff is here to help throughout the online course should you have any questions.

Book and class room: you will learn all important information about diving in the PADI Open Water Diver book and complete the knowledge reviews after each of the 5 sections. Then you attend class room session where the instructor will correct your knowledge reviews and go over anything that was not filled out correctly as well as some critical points of the diving theory. A final exam completes the theory portion of the course.

Please note that we do not offer theory classes for all available Open Water Diver course dates.

POOL TRAINING – Time to get wet!

During this section of the course you will learn all basic scuba skills including how to keep a neutral buoyancy and handling your equipment. You will learn everything you need to know to stay safe and be comfortable underwater. Your instructor will also ask you to demonstrate some basic swimming skills.

Gear included: everything you need except mask, snorkel, fins, boots and wetsuit (the last 2 are not obligatory)

We offer 2 models:

Evenings courses: pool training is divided into 4 modules, usually later in the evening.

Intensive courses: pool training is split into 2 longer modules, usually over a weekend. For these courses we recommend to use a thin wetsuit to stay comfortable, especially if you are prone to feeling cold. 3mm suits are available for rent at 25$. It’s also a great thing to own for your future holidays in the south.

CERTIFICATION – Finally some real dives!

During 4 dives you will demonstrate some of the skills you have learnt at the pool and try out a little compass swim.

You have 2 options:

Certification in Quebec: nothing better to train you and make you ready for anything to come than a certification in our home conditions. You will spend 2 days over a weekend at Flintkote, an old quarry at Thetford Mines that is perfectly adapted to a diver’s needs. We teach in small groups only and our instructors are well trained in taking care of a wide range of characters: from the fearless adventurer to the more cautious explorer – everybody will profit from the experience while being perfectly safe.

As an extra to your PADI certification we include the FQAS certification card (Fédération Québecoise des Activités Subaquatiques). It is required by law if you want to go diving in Québec after your course.

Gear included: everything you need including a dive computer and double 7mm wetsuit, excluding mask, snorkel, fins and boots.

Holidays already planned? You don’t want to waste precious holiday time studying in a class room? You don’t trust that the pool at your destination will be clean and has the required depth to properly train all skills? You want to make sure to learn from a french speaking instructor? Join us for the theory and pool practice and we’ll set you up with the required paperwork to complete your certification at any PADI dive center around the world.
