Important notice

Due to sanitary measures implemented by the government a COVID-19 vaccination passport is obligatory for all non-essential indoor courses and activities. We invite you to send us a copy of your QR code from your vaccination passport.

At the moment we are not allowed to give group courses. You can start the eLearning portion of your course at any time. You can also reserve a date for pool practice in foresight of restrictions being abrogated. In case current restrictions do stay in place, we will inform you before the course and you can choose a new date.

Please be aware that once you have started your eLearning course we can only issue a partial refund. We strongly suggest that you fill out all required forms before you inscribe in the course.

Course

This is the first step towards becoming a passionate diver and member of the worldwide recognised PADI family. With your Open Water Diver certification card you can dive to a maximum depth of 60feet/18m.

To perfectly adapt to your busy schedule we offer this course in 3 practical modules that you can complete at your convenience: theory – pool practice – certification.

Theory:

  • eLearning is included in your course (available in English, French and many other languages)

Pool practice:

  • Takes place at CEGEP Garneau or the Camps Notre Dame de Foy (CNDF) St. Augustin
  • You can choose between a 4 evening course during the week and an intensive training over a complete weekend.
  • All of our instructors also speak english, however main language during courses is french.

Certification:

  • Our certifications are done in Flintkote, Thetford Mines during 2 days over a weekend.
  • Dates between May – October
  • The FQAS permission to dive in Quebec is included in our Open Water certification if the course was completed

Do not forget to complete the eLearning course and bring us your signed forms  before the beginning of your course!

  • Theory and pool practice: 390$
  • Theory, pool practice, certification and FQAS card – all inclusive: 515$
  • Promotion “it’s better together” –  all inclusive for 2 people: 899$

Requirements

  • Open Water course: be at least 15 years old
  • To inscribe a 10-14 years old child in the Junior Open Water course please call us for more information.
  • Need to complete and sign the PADI Open Water liability releases and medical forms.

Equipment requirements:

  • Have your own set of fins, boots, mask and snorkel. All the rest of the equipment is included in your course price

Dates

  • Choose a date for your pool practice
  • If you choose a course option with certification please call us to reserve your preferred certification date: 418-847-1105

Your preferred date will only be reserved after we have received your filled and sign Open Water course forms.

Forms

Completion and signing of a liability release and medical form is required by PADI before the start of any course activity. The reservation of your preferred date is only complete once we have received these forms.

Other fees

SITE ENTRY:
Entry to Flintkote is included for the Open Water Diver and Advanced courses.
For other courses with open water dives, you will need to pay your entry fee on site.


DATE CHANGES:

  • More than 28 days before the course start: no charge

  • 28 to 8 days before the course start:

    • $15: Discover Scuba, Bubblemaker, ReActivate

    • $70: all other courses

  • 7 to 3 days before the course start:

    • $30: Discover Scuba, Bubblemaker

    • $50: ReActivate

    • $120: Open Water Diver, Advanced, Rescue, Ice Diving

    • $90: all other courses

  • Changing the course date 1–2 days before the start is not possible, regardless of the reason.

These fees cover, among other things, your reserved pool spot and/or the instructor’s wages.

Please make sure to carefully check the prerequisites for each course/activity.
In particular, pay close attention to the medical form.
If you need to change your course date because you require medical clearance and were unable to get a doctor’s appointment in time, the date change fees will still apply.


EQUIPMENT:

  • Bubblemaker, Discover Scuba, and ReActivate (refresher): all equipment is provided.

  • Open Water Diver: you must have your own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins. A thin wetsuit is recommended for intensive pool sessions. Rental available. All other equipment is provided (including a thick wetsuit for certification).

  • Advanced: you must have your own mask, snorkel, fins, compass, SMB, and dive computer. Rental available. The rest is provided.

  • All other courses: equipment is not included in the course price.

You are responsible for coming in to try on and reserve the proper sizes for your course after registering.
You must pick up your gear the day before your course and return it in good condition the day after your course.
(This does not apply to Bubblemaker or Discover Scuba courses.)
For the Open Water Diver course, please bring your equipment back after the pool sessions and pick up a new set before your certification dives.
You are also responsible for refilling your tanks at the shop between dive days.


VIP SERVICES:
If you are unable to pick up/return your gear or refill your tanks between dive days, let us know as early as possible.
We offer VIP services for certain courses, available for an additional fee. Spaces are limited.


DISCOUNTS:
By enrolling in a course with Plongée Capitale, you can benefit from discounts on equipment.


QUÉBEC DIVING LICENSE:
The evaluation for the Québec Class A permit (FQAS – Québec Subaquatique) is included in all courses with at least one open water dive.
The permit fee is only included in the Open Water Diver course.
