Welcome to your Advanced Open Water Diver Course – PADI
![]()
For your Advanced Diver course you will need to complete the chapters on deep diving, underwater navigation, buoyancy control, surface marker deployment, and Rescue. The five chapters take an average of 8 hours to complete. Additional topics are available in the online course, and you are free to explore them all if you wish to learn more.
The theory needs to be completed before the certification weekend.
CERTIFICATION
The certification will take place at Flintkote, Thetford Mines.
You will complete 3 dives on Saturday and 2 dives on Sunday. Your instructor will provide a detailed briefing before each dive and a follow-up afterward. The goal is not to master the 5 specialties but to give you the opportunity to experience new ways of diving under the supervision of an instructor.
We particularly believe that buoyancy control can never be practiced enough, and knowing how to deploy a buoy underwater is essential for dives in the Saint Lawrence or in the south.

A word about the Québec Subaquatique (FQAS) permit:
This permit is required to dive in Quebec. Whether it’s a Class A or B, the most important thing is to have one. If you don’t have a permit yet, your instructor will conduct a full evaluation to issue you a Class A during the course. To obtain Class B, you can participate in one of our night dives on Tuesday evenings at the end of the season or take the Night Diving specialty.
Note: the evaluation is included in the course, but the permit fees with Québec Subaquatique are not.
