Why should I be a Divemaster?

Everybody knows: the helpful guide on your holiday dive trip is a Divemaster. Not many know that the Divemaster course might just be the right thing for themselves, even if they have no plans of eluding to the south in pursuit of a job in diving.

Have you ever asked yourself one of these questions:

  • Can I do something to prevent accidents?
  • Do I still remember all the basic skills from my first course?
  • What exactly happens to our body under pressure?
  • How can I be a good role model at the dive site?

The Divemaster course will answer all of these questions.

PERSONAL DIVE SKILLS

The Open Water course is the only course where you have practiced the basic skills like air sharing, adjusting lost gear underwater, mask skills,… but just once and at a time where keeping your buoyancy was still your main concern. The Divemaster cours will work on perfecting these basic skills, understand every facet of them and why we are doing them a certain way.

SECURITY

The Divemaster is also perfecting the skills and knowledge of the Rescue course. You will be trained to notice issues already before they become a real problem. If you are diving with family, your knowledge will keep them safe and you will be a great role model for them and all divers at the dive site.

DIVE THEORY

Dive physiology, Dive physics, dive planning, equipment …. You will become a master in each of these topics. It will change the way you prepare a dive and handle your gear. Knowledge is the best way to avoiding accidents.

AWARENESS

How is it that a Divemaster always spots when a weight belt isn’t closed correctly, a hose is tangled or a mask not fitted correctly even when 10 divers are preparing on a tight boat? He is trained to see exactly that – these small mishaps that can get dangerous when not addressed at the right time.

You can be this person with the wise foresight taking care of others around you.

NEW HORIZONS

Only for some of you a Divemaster course also means a new employment. It can open the doors to traveling around the world or joining a motivated team in your home court.

But wether you plan on actually working as a Divemaster or you just want to improve your personal skills, knowledge and awareness – a lot of fun is coming your way in mastering this new challenge!
